Welcome to our spacious, yet oh-so-cozy, mountain home, affectionally named “King of the Mountain Base Camp." Enjoy stunning views of Arapaho National Forest while listening to the babbling waters of Chicago Creek. You'll feel tucked away in the mountains while having easy access to downtown Idaho Springs, which is a mere 4-minute drive from the home. The main floor offers an open concept, eat-in kitchen perfect for enjoying meals with family and friends. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked (Cuisinart coffee maker, 4-slice toaster, microwave, blender, and a crockpot to boot!). After meals, spill into the living room to read a book, play a game, or watch a movie or sporting event on the TV. There are two bedrooms with a shared full bath upstairs. And, there are two bedrooms with a shared full bath downstairs. This home's floor plan is perfect for larger families, multi-families, wedding parties, and small company/corporate retreats.
Don’t want to be inside? Perfect! The private wraparound deck offers an outdoor living space for drinking your morning coffee, enjoying mealtime outside, or enjoying a glass of wine or local craft beer after a full day of exploring. Imagine sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs, eyes closed, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and listening to the birds.
This home is located in Idaho Springs, where gold was first discovered in CO in 1859. Downtown retains much of its old, wild west charm, honoring its rich mining heritage with carefully preserved museums and historic sites, including Argo Gold Mine and Mill. Miner Street, lined with fabulous local restaurants / breweries, locally-owned boutiques, and specialty shops is a 5-minute drive from the home. Idaho Springs is a small town with big personality, including mine tours, rafting trips, zip lining, hiking, Indian Hot Springs, family parks and more…
Although this home is located on a county-maintained road, it is very steep. From June through August, a front-wheel drive car is enough; however from November to May it is REQUIRED to be traveling in a vehicle that provides either AWD or 4 wheel drive capabilities.
