Enjoy stunning views of Arapaho National Forest while listening to the babbling waters of Chicago Creek. You'll feel tucked away in the mountains while having easy access to downtown Idaho Springs, which is a mere 4-minute drive from the home. The main floor offers an open concept, eat-in kitchen perfect for enjoying meals with family and friends. The kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked (Cuisinart coffee maker, 4-slice toaster, microwave, blender, and a crockpot to boot!). After meals, spill into the living room to read a book, play a game, or watch a movie or sporting event on the TV. There are two bedrooms with a shared full bath upstairs. And, there are two bedrooms with a shared full bath downstairs. This home's floor plan is perfect for larger families, multi-families, wedding parties, and small company/corporate retreats.

Don’t want to be inside? Perfect! The private wraparound deck offers an outdoor living space for drinking your morning coffee, enjoying mealtime outside, or enjoying a glass of wine or local craft beer after a full day of exploring. Imagine sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs, eyes closed, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and listening to the birds.

This home is located in Idaho Springs, where gold was first discovered in CO in 1859. Downtown retains much of its old, wild west charm, honoring its rich mining heritage with carefully preserved museums and historic sites, including Argo Gold Mine and Mill. Miner Street, lined with fabulous local restaurants / breweries, locally-owned boutiques, and specialty shops is a 5-minute drive from the home. Idaho Springs is a small town with big personality, including mine tours, rafting trips, zip lining, hiking, Indian Hot Springs, family parks and more…

Although this home is located on a county-maintained road, it is very steep. From June through August, a front-wheel drive car is enough; however from November to May it is REQUIRED to be traveling in a vehicle that provides either AWD or 4 wheel drive capabilities.

Family Fun
5/5 stars
The house is fabulous and wonderful for families to hang together. We loved using the hot tub, the patio with the out door sofa and table was well used. The kitchen/dining table was perfect for a large gathering for meals and playing games. The only problem I saw was...we weren't there long enough!

Things to work on. 1. Trundle bed lower pull out wasn't a bed it was the box spring for the bed above. If a mattress for the box spring was around we didn't find it. (But also didn't look super hard for it). 2. Main floor bathroom lights didn't work. 3. Hot tub was extremely dirty. Hot tub cover is falling apart which you guys must know about because it's jimmy rigged to stay in place. Stepping stones closest to the deck aren't secure and nowhere near level. (This is all coming from a group of sub 40yr old males. A bunch of elderly mountain mama's would probably have a few extra words on the matter. Possibly a law suit with those stepping stones. Takeaway: $1700 for two nights seems out of touch for the place we saw. Really not worth it for a dirt hot tub which seems to be a well advertised perk from you guys. We'll likely look for something new in the future.

EPIC VACATION AND HOUSE
5/5 stars
This Cabin is wonderful and full of cool spaces! WE loved the wrap around deck, the hot tub, all the space to love and converse with family! We were here for a wedding at Blackstone River Ranch and we had so many friends and family in many cabins around. We loved Idaho Springs, made so many memories, floated the river, had amazing star watching nights and so much more! Thank you for the wonderful place!

Very Adventurous!! Very Clean!!
5/5 stars
Mountain Mama's House worked great for us. It offered all of the amenities, was very clean and was represented well! The location worked great for outdoor adventures, morning walks and was even within walking distance of down town Idaho Springs. It was a great value and all of the guests were extremely satisfied. Thanks again, - Dustin

Perfect Mountain Getaway!
5/5 stars
We had the best time during our recent trip and would absolutely recommend and visit again! The house had tons of room for our kids to explore inside and out. It was peaceful and quiet, but a quick drive into town and to I70 for traveling a little further out. It was very clean and ready for our arrival with a handwritten note and a guides and brochures for the local area. We also got a follow up call to make sure everything was going well. As mentioned in a previous review, there was good internet service so it's a great place to getaway for those doing remote work/school who need a change of scenery. Thanks for a wonderful time!

We stayed for a few days at theMt Mama House for our daughters wedding. We had a great time at the house, everything worked well house was clean, and location was perfect. Close enough to town but still quiet enough to enjoy the mountains. We hope to come back again sometime and would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Bryan and his staff for making our stay very comfortable. Wade and family.

Great mountain getaway for Thanksgiving
5/5 stars
Spent Thanksgiving here with family of 9 (6 adults, 2 children, 1 infant). Easy drive from Denver, but enough to still feel like a Getaway. Luckily, since we live in Denver we could bring pack n play and high chair for baby. Host did drop off a stroller for our use and a brand new turkey roasting pan which was very kind! Nice cozy place with just what we needed. Gas fireplace kept living room very warm and cozy! Play room was nice touch for kids. Lots of stairs in home and icey road & driveway but to be expected in the mountains! Pretty views from windows. Really enjoyed our time.
- Molly

Hi Molly, thanks for your great review! We are thrilled you enjoyed the home. Come back soon! The view out the windows is beautiful in all seasons. ; )

Cozy, family friendly
5/5 stars
Our whole family was privileged to stay at Mountain Mama's House, and we loved our visit! The house was clean, beds were comfy, and instructions for coming and going were clear and simple. Bryan and Lottie were quick to respond to a question we had about the fireplace. They also had provided a snow shovel since we had arrived just in time for the first snowfall of the season! Great place for families!!
- Diane

Hi Diane, thanks for your kind review. We are thrilled you enjoyed Mountain Mama's House for your family, gathering by the fireplace during 2019's first snowfall. We'd love to host you again in the future. : )

Mountain Mama
5/5 stars
This house was the perfect spot for our long weekend away. We had a two day conference in Denver, which was a short and beautiful 35 minute drive through the mountains. The rest of our trip was spent seeing golden aspen, hiking, and eating in town. Echo Lake and the Chicago Lakes trail were 15 minutes up Mt. Evans road, and good restaurants were 5 minutes the other direction - really the perfect location for us. The house was comfortable and homey, with a fully stocked kitchen for the dinner and breakfast we made there. The wrap around deck had lots of sunshine, and beautiful views of the hillside with the morning sun on it. Perfect for my first cup of coffee viewing. This house would be great for a two-family get away, as there are two bedrooms upstairs with a full bath, two bedrooms downstairs with a full bath, and lots of hang out room in the floor in between for privacy times and coming together times. Lottie was great as a hostess, answering my questions ahead of time, including hiking and restaurant recommendations.
- Patti

Hi Patti and Kevin, thanks for your lovely review. We hope you had the most amazing time celebrating your anniversary! We would be honored to host you again in the future.

Mountain Mama’s House
5/5 stars
We had a great stay at Mountain Mama’s house. The home was clean, well kept, and only 5 minutes from our nephew’s wedding venue. We enjoyed sitting out on the wrap around deck. The huge kitchen was well equipped and was another great gathering place. Lottie and Bryan were great to work with and gave us several suggestions for sites to see in our free time. We recommend it and would stay there again.
- Beth

Hi Beth, thanks for your review! We are thrilled you enjoyed Mountain Mama's House. We agree that the huge kitchen and wrap around deck are wonderful to have, especially for larger groups. We hope you will consider staying with us again. Until next time!

Perfect Mountain Getaway
5/5 stars
We really enjoyed out stay at Mountain Mama's House; it is close to town but not "too" close, it is surrounded by rustic views and abundant nature but has modern amenities and a big, spacious kitchen that was fun to gather and cook in! Lottie was a gracious, responsive host and we plan to return to this property. It's exactly what you're looking for when you say "we want to have a little mountain getaway".
- Robert

Hi Bobby, thanks for staying at Mountain Mama's House. We appreciate you treating the home with respect and for reaching out when you needed us. We hope you will consider staying with us again when you have friends flying in from other parts of the country. We hope you have many fond memories from your visit.

Felt Like I was on My Own
3/5 stars
Although I received very efficient email reminders regarding VRBO payment, I received very little info from your property management company other than an initial text from Lottie. Calls and texts to the office went unanswered as our dates neared and we had no idea of check-in times or procedures. Finally I called to the office and was able to talk with Bryan, who was of help. Similarly, we received no reply after responding to an itrip text while we were at the property and had questions about garbage handling and checkout procedures. Thankfully we found a 3 ring binder (almost by accident) on a corner table of the family room area and that had instructions. Property was in an excellent location for outdoor activities. For the most part, the property was well equipped. We were quite surprised to learn it had no A/C and found that opening windows with screens did finally cool the bedrooms down to sleeping temperatures. Would have been nice to have a window box fan to encourage that air turnover. There was a mix of furniture quality, particularly in the bedrooms where some were quite nice and some had the shabby quality of college dorm furniture. Two of the 4 bedrooms were in a basement level and had that cellar feel. If we came to the area again, we would likely be looking for other nearby properties.
- Michael

Hi Michael, thanks for your review. We are sorry to hear that this was your experience as we strive to provide 5-star accommodations and hospitality to all our guests. Upon review of our guest correspondence log, we do not see any replies from you after we reached out accommodating your request for early checkin and subsequent follow-up to see if you had any questions or needed anything related to your stay. We are glad you found the guestbook with house rules, area recommendations and our contact info, which is always right inside the door on the kitchen counter upon arrival. As stated in the listing, the home does not have A/C. Most mountain homes do not, especially since you are at an elevation of 7500+ above sea level in that area. The advantage of the two bedrooms that are located below ground level is that they are inherently cooler than the bedrooms on the third floor. There are also ceiling fans in those rooms. Many of our guests enjoy the mountain breezes that can be felt when opening the windows throughout the home. You are correct - the home is in a wonderful location for accessing all the area has to offer including the mountains (Mt Evans & St. Mary's Glacier), downtown Idaho Springs, and many other charming mountain towns located along I-70.

We had a wonderful four days here following a hectic wedding weekend. We had two different families and the house had lots of room.
